A group of Pioneer residents met today to discuss Tas Water’s proposals to replace the reticulated drinking water supply which is contaminated with Lead and other toxins.

Spokesperson for SWINET Mr Douglas Kaye said “ The residents who met today are concerned about the Contracts they received last week from Tas Water for alternative means of providing safe drinking water to residents of Pioneer.”

“SWINET recently received a copy under Right To Information of the GHD report into water supply to several north east towns including to Pioneer.”

“We are now seeking legal advice.”

“SWINET are requesting that Minister for Health Michael Ferguson and Minister for Water Jeremy Rockcliff ensure that Director of Health Dr Roscoe Taylor immediately take action to find the source of Lead and other contaminants in the water and prevent any future contamination.”

“We are disappointed that Dorset Council have failed to act in the best interests of Pioneer Ratepayers since 2008 when Pioneer was taken off the Frome Dam water supply with out any notification to residents.” Said Mr Kaye.
