FRONTIER TOURING ARTISTS WIN BIG AT 2015 HELPMANN AWARDS

ED SHEERAN WINS ‘BEST INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY CONCERT’

+ CHET FAKER WINS ‘BEST AUSTRALIAN CONTEMPORARY CONCERT’

In a year already marked by record breaking and achievements, Frontier Touring artists have received the 2015 Helpmann Awards for ‘Best International Contemporary Concert’ (for Ed Sheeran) and ‘Best Australian Contemporary Concert’ (for Chet Faker).

This marks the second year in a row that Frontier Touring have received both contemporary concert accolades at the prestigious Helpmann Awards, and the third year running that a Frontier artist has received ‘Best International Contemporary Concert’. This recognition joins the recent news that Frontier Touring is the #1 independent concert promoter in the world, according to US publication Billboard.

Frontier Touring endeavours to bring the best of both local and international acts to Australia and New Zealand and this recognition from the Helpmann Awards reflects the impeccable standard of our touring talent as both artists and entertainers on the live stage.

Ed Sheeran’s completely sold-out seventeen date tour of Australia and New Zealand earlier this year saw the Brit become the first ever artist to undertake a headline national arena tour completely solo, accompanied by only a loop pedal and his trusty acoustic guitar. Touring in celebration of his sophomore album x, Australia’s highest selling album of 2014, Sheeran performed in front of close to 190,000 fans to rave reviews:

‘It takes a special kind of courage to walk onto an arena stage with nothing but a guitar, a loop pedal and your voice, but at the age of 24, not only did Ed Sheeran take Rod Laver Arena with the confidence of a veteran songwriter, he single-handedly blew the roof off… Surely Sheeran’s most ambitious tour to date, but evidently his best.’ – The Age

‘Seeing Sheeran construct each song right before your ears felt like watching someone weaving a musical tapestry.’ – The New Zealand Herald

Sheeran will return to kick off the summer with a stadium tour across Australia and New Zealand, joined by special guests Rudimental, Passenger and Foy Vance. With this tour, the talented performer will become the first ever musician to perform an Australian and New Zealand stadium tour entirely solo, filling the space with hypnotising layers of sound. Chet Faker’s (a.k.a. Melburnian native Nicholas Murphy) homecoming tour earlier this year featured thirteen sold out shows including a remarkable two Hordern Pavilions and five Palais Theatres. Playing slices from his multi-platinum chart-topping album Built On Glass which took out five wins from nine nominations at the 2014 ARIA Awards and topped triple j’s Hottest 100 with ‘Talk Is Cheap’, Chet Faker enveloped the crowd with his soul-drenched vocals and mastery of the live stage:

‘His show is a journey, one that includes extended instrumental intros and codas to accompany every song and focuses as heavily on craft as it does on hooks… Murphy is not only drowning in hits, he’s also soaking in considerable respect’ – Sydney Morning Herald

‘Serious artist, seductive showman… Faker commanded the audience throughout the set… it was evident throughout the show that Faker is fiercely dedicated to his art – his ability to take a genre that can remain a niche market and turn it into something relatable and raw is notable.’ – The Guardian

Chet Faker will embark on a return ‘Built on Live’ East Coast tour this October and November, playing his biggest venues to date including the iconic and much loved Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne and Riverstage in Brisbane Botanic Gardens. Performing an all-new show, the ‘Built on Live’ tour features an expanded band with guests, tracks that Chet has never before performed live and a handful of surprises along the way.
