Jess Rowland wins Gold in the Sparring at IL Shim International TaeKwon-Do ITF Victorian Challenge
On the back of their medal success at the IL Shim Victorian Challenge and the 2012 ITF Taekwon-Do Oceania Championships at the Hobart City Hall in April, local children Josh Rowland 17 from Woodbridge and 16 year old Jess Rowland have been selected as part of the fifteen person strong Tasmanian Team to represent the State at the 2012 National Championships on the Gold Coast in October this year. The Championships are a selection event for candidates for the opportunity to represent Australia at the World championships in Benidorm, Spain in 2013. Gabrielle Anastasio and David Walters are likely to achieve selection.
Steve Weston; senior instructor for Southern ITF Taekwon-Do; Secretary General of ITF Taekwon-Do Australia will be inducted into the Australasia Martial Arts Hall of Fame in August this year. He will head the team of fifteen including a variety of ranks from beginners to experienced black belts.
ITF Taekwon-Do Tasmania Inc hopes to raise $10,000 towards the costs with competitors meeting the remaining fifty precent of the cost of attending the Championships. With the support of the Old Wool Store; Woodbridge Hill Hideaway; Pennicott Wilderness Journeys and the Massage Studio at Friends Health and Fitness ITF Taekwon-Do Tasmania Inc will be holding a raffle to raise much need funds to assist the Tasmanian Team with the costs associated with attending the Championships.
