Fullers Bookshop offers a permanent home for Student Readings starting Thursday 19th August at 6pm.

Fullers Bookshop has teamed up with Rosny College to provide a permanent home for student readings.

Starting next Thursday, August 19 at 6pm, college age students will read their prose or poetry to a captive audience again.

Students are encouraged to bring along their prose or poetry that can be read aloud in around three minutes.

Registrations will be accepted on the night and cost $3.

The readers will be judged by Liz Winfield and Karen Knight and awarded prizes at the end of the night. There will be three prizes in both the poetry section and the prose section.

Winners will also be published on Cedric’s Wall, an online occasional journal which will feature the work - poetry, fiction, essays - of younger Tasmanian writers.

Ben Walter, assistant manager of Fullers and a writer and publisher himself says “There are precious few opportunities for young writers in Tasmania - this has long been a source of encouragement for them to hone and develop their craft and we’re looking to see that continue.

“My first publishing opportunity came as a result of the night in 1997, and it’s terrific to offer this kind of opportunity to others,” he said.

All are welcome to attend this free event.
