The official opening today of the $1.2m soccer pitch and $400,000 Transport Museum display facility, both at Glenorchy’s KGV community precinct, is a wonderful boost for the local community and a big step forward for the $8.7m KGV redevelopment.
The opening is also another welcome sign that the 23 years of Labor neglect of Denison is being turned around. Denison now matters, as evidenced by this and other Federal Government investments, the constant visits by Government Ministers and all manner of promises.
Make no mistake and don’t be misled. The $8.7m KGV redevelopment was not a Labor Party promise at the 2010 Federal Election. It came much later and was hard fought for.
Special recognition should go to Adriana Taylor MLC who was Glenorchy Mayor after the 2010 election and who did more than anyone on Glenorchy City Council to help me secure this important investment.
