Don’t know much about croquet? That’s what they all say. Then one day you are invited to come along and have a game. – That’s when you become hooked!
Guess you didn’t know that there are several varieties of the game! The two most popular are – Golf Croquet and Association Croquet. The easiest is Golf Croquet and beginners invariably start with this. Each game takes less than an hour and is very sociable.
You probably think it’s only for the ‘oldies’ – you’re wrong!! Whether you are 8yrs old or 80+yrs you will enjoy the challenge, the mental stimulation and the exercise.
Everyone feels empowered once the ‘mallet’ is placed in his or her hands – let the game begin!
The most exciting news is that due to this sport becoming so popular in Tasmania the Launceston City Council agreed to provide a brand new 6-lawn venue at the St.Leonards Sports Centre.
This will be the venue for Australian Men’s Croquet Championships being held on 19 – 22nd March 2011.
The Australian Men’s competition is fiercely contested and interviews with players can be arranged during the event.
