(after Emily Dickinson’s poem by the same name)
What’s a girl to do
If a burr invades her shoe?
She’s the one to blame
For the path by which she came
There’s no use for stress
If some mud should spoil her dress
Puddles can’t be asked
To step aside and let her past
Without an ear to hear them, curses are just sounds
Best put by to spend upon the guy who keeps the grounds.
