Well, there I was in the Bellerive Tavern, or whatever it is called, when I fell into conversation (I was later to fall off my bar stool) with a fine young man called M.

And he was not happy. Not happy with the presentation ceremony for Tassie’s victorious Sheffield Shield (yeah I know the name has changed but I can only remember the old one) team, the Pussies, or whatever they are called.

This may be a direct quote from him (but I can’t vouche for it): “The overall presentation was very poor, very amateurish and not representative of the professionalism of the cricketers. I have seen better run presentations at country cricket matches.

“I would also add this; it wouldn’t have happened in Denis Rogers’ day.  He would rather declare Launceston the capital of Tasmania than hug a player.”

What on earth is he referring to. What is wrong with a bit of man love?
