In The Australian yesterday (August 9), there was a story about John Kinsella taking out apprehended violence orders against fellow poets Robert Adamson and Anthony Lawrence.
Kinsella did so after receiving a barrage of allegedly threatening emails from them about claims which offended them in his autobiography that refer to drug use, public masturbation, pornography and literary grants squandered on prostitutes.
Lawrence, who is a sometime Hobart resident, will be one of the leading lights in Tasmanian Living Writers’ Week, which starts tomorrow night.
His first offical guest spot will be on a panel entitled “Writing for an Audience : Fiction, Poetry” in Hobart at the Henry Jones Art Hotel on Saturday (August 12) from 3.15pm, but my good friend Bacchus No-Smoke says he will be at an informal launch of the festival at the Hope & Anchor tomorrow evening.
