TASMANIA’S investment in an AFL football team hit promotional paydirt yesterday when Hawthorn bagged the premiership. The Hawks will be paid an additional $300,000 bonus by the State Government for winning the flag, but the promotional dividend began to pay off as soon as the game ended. Skipper Sam Mitchell lauded Tasmania’s support of the AFL team when making his victory speech. “Thanks Tasmania . . . make sure you get down there for a holiday,” he told the crowd of 100,012 and more than two million television viewers.
