The Tasmanian Times’ Tasmanian of the Year will be announced in Rosevears Pub, Tamar Valley, next Thursday, November 1, starting at 6.30pm, and hosted by that feisty and creative anti-pulp mill fighter TAP.
This is the fourth year TT has presented this award, which recognises courageous, indefatigable Tasmanians who battle in the public interest and speak truth to power. Our inaugural winner was Dr Alison Bleaney, a standout champion for healthy humans, and environment. This year Dr Bleaney will present the award, after a speech by TT Founder/Publisher/Editor, Lindsay Tuffin.
In 2010 we chose Dr Frank Nicklason, Gunns 20 veteran and champion again for healthy humans ... and environment. Last year’s award went to John Lawrence, who writes regularly and forensically on oldtt.pixelkey.biz, interpreting for the unwashed and unschooled the arcane and complex financial statements of opaque organisations like (ex-)Gunns Ltd and Forestry Tasmania.
